Wisconsin Culinary - The Tastes of the State
Airdates: Oct 10-11, 2009; Aug 21-22, 2010
Wisconsin’s culinary options cannot be outdone, and on this episode of Wisconsin, we’ll show you why. We kick off our “Tastes of the State” tour at Warrens Cranfest to experience cranberries in ways you never imagined. A stop in the town of Lancaster will lead us to Woolwich Dairy where your craving for goat cheese of many flavors will hit an all time high. A visit to Vesperman Farms will show us how the Vesperman family grows their own food that then sell in their Cedar House Restaurant in downtown Lancaster. To wash it all down a tour of the Potosi Brewery and their National Brewery Museum will quench your thirst. Heading into Green County we’ll check out the cheese at Edelweiss Creamery and the Roth Kase Factory as well as the world class brews at Minhas Brewery and the New Glarus Brewing Company. Plus, dessert comes in many forms of yogurt at Sugar River Dairy in Albany. To round out the culinary tour we hit Cheese Days in Monroe where the fried cheese curds and cream puffs keep people coming back year after year and from all over the United States. America's Dairyland - Booked into Wisconsin

Read any good books lately? If not, there’s a whole bunch of great books about Wisconsin that will keep you curled up on the couch for hours. We’ll explore books written about our state’s rich dairying and agricultural history, as well as some of the recent books being penned about our award winning cheesemakers, and cheeses. We’ll speak with author and Wisconsin historian Jerry Apps about a series of novels he’s working on and discuss the importance of keeping Wisconsin’s farming history alive. Of course, a show about Wisconsin books wouldn’t be complete unless we got the chance to hear from some of the state’s best cheesemakers. The Master Cheesemakers of Wisconsin- written by James Norton and photographed by Becca Dilly is a tome about the experts who craft Wisconsin’s award winning cheeses. And let’s not forget recipe books! Join Stephanie Klett as she steps into the kitchen to test a few recipes with a renowned chef, whose recipes feature; you guessed it – Wisconsin cheese! Cedarburg: Where Art is a Tradition

In this episode we will explore the artistic tradition that is Cedarburg. The historic districts are very walkable and we’ll take you on a tour starting with the unique shops, winery and restaurant at the Cedar Creek Settlement. The historic buildings once housed the city’s signature woolen mill along Cedar Creek. As we walk through the city, we’ll stop to visit with artists in their studios during the Arts Weekend Studio Tour, talk with artists on the sidewalk who are participating in the Plein Air competition. We’ll visit artisans making jewelry, delicious candy and bread. We’ll pay a visit to a scrapbooking convention and cut some rocks at the largest rock shop in the country. And that’s just the beginning.

The Unexpected Wisconsin-Chippewa Valley

The Wisconsin American Legion: "For God and Country”
Airdates: June 19-20, 2010
In this Discover Wisconsin episode, we pay tribute to all the men and women who are serving and who have served our state and country in the Armed Forces. We highlight the many programs and services the Wisconsin American Legion provides veterans but also the more than five hundred communities where Legion Posts have been established throughout the state. The Legion sponsors Boy Scout troops, teaches Americanism to high school boys and girls through Badger Boys and Girls State, has it’s own camp where qualifying veterans can spend a summer week getting away from it all and of course there’s American Legion baseball.
