Minocqua - Life Our Way!
Airdates: May 10-11, 2008
The Minocqua, Arbor-Vitae, Woodruff area is the place to be for family fun without having to constantly pull out your wallet. On “Life Our Way” we’ll start you out with a plane ride to give you a bird’s eye view of the island of Minocqua. You’ll know exactly where to go when you head down to the water surrounding the island for a guided pontoon cruise. Before we’re done on the area’s many lakes, you’ll also experience guided fishing, canoeing and kayaking tours. Once on land, you’ll attend some of the area’s unique festivals, including Beef-A-Rama, Chill Out Fest and Only Fools Run at Midnight. The Minocqua, Arbor-Vitae, Woodruff area’s assortment of outdoor activities really has something for everyone: from mini-golf, to 18-hole golf courses, to shopping, biking, hiking and horseback riding. You can also be entertained at the Scheers Lumber Jack Show, Wildwood Wildlife Park, and the Northern Lights Playhouse. And that’s just a few of the summer activities you and your family will enjoy. During the colder months we’ll take you ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, dining, and indoors to play in The Waters water park. Finally, the families who have been vacationing in the Minocqua area their entire lives will tell you why they want to share it with you. It's Milwaukee Time!
Airdates: May 17-18, 2008
In this edition of Discover Wisconsin we visit the state’s largest city, Milwaukee. We'll take you on a brewery tour and sample some of the best food that is unique to Milwaukee, including the Friday night fish fry, famous frozen custard, and sausages made with recipes from the late 1800’s. Milwaukee is also home to some of the best museums in the state, and we visit one that is constantly evolving, Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin. Offering a variety of hands-on educational, cultural, and environmental programs for visitors of all ages, Discovery World is also the home port of Wisconsin’s Official Flagship, the “S/V Denis Sullivan.” The “S/V Denis Sullivan” is a floating classroom that offers educational programs for youth of all ages, providing a platform to learn why the Great Lakes are important to the people living around it. And, we take a side trip to a neighbor south of Milwaukee, Racine. Like Milwaukee, Racine is located on the shores of Lake Michigan, and has one of the best beaches in the state. Downtown Racine is bustling with outdoor concerts, museums, and a local theatre group. There’s a lot of eating, drinking, shopping, music, and dancing in this Discover Wisconsin episode.

Green Bay: Exploring Titletown

Green Bay is the smallest city in the country that is home to an NFL team. The Green Bay Packers play a significant role in the history of the city. Lumber Jack World Championships -Pride, Courage and Respect for Hayward’s Rich History

Racing to the top of 90 foot cedar poles, sprinting across a chain of logs rolling on water, and racing against time with just a single motor saw and a white pine log are all part of this Discover Wisconsin episode. Northernaire – The Resurrection of a Northwoods Icon

A true northwoods icon, Northernaire Resort in Three Lakes is an ideal vacation destination for your whole family. On this episode of Discover Wisconsin, we’ll take a trip back to the mid-1900’s, to find out why the famous luxury hotel was a favorite vacation destination of Hollywood stars like Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd, and boasted big-name entertainers like Bob Hope and Barbara Mandrell. We’ll taste-test that, as well as dozens of other flavors – from the simple and traditional, to the wacky and outrageous! Along the way, we’ll take a look at all the delectable varieties of ice cream you can find these days. Land of History and Adventure - Lafayette County

We begin our program with a look at the recreational opportunities in Lafayette County. The Cheese Country Trail provides excellent routes for ATV riders and snowmobilers. There are horseback trails to ride and lakes to fish and swim in. We’ll also highlight annual festivals like Darlington’s Canoe Fest and Shullsburg’s Cheese Festival, complete with a trolley ride to Gravity Hill. History comes alive in Lafayette County as we visit the 1st State Capitol in Belmont, St. Augustine Church in New Diggings, and the Badger Mine & Museum in Shullsburg. There are plenty of attractions and things to see and do in Lafayette County in this edition of Discover Wisconsin.

Live Green - E85
Airdates: July 12-13, 2008
In this episode of Discover Wisconsin, we’ll explore how E85 is becoming a huge economic benefit to area farmers. More than 50 Wisconsin gas stations already offer E85, with more and more stations offering the fuel every month. With car manufacturers like GM offering a variety of E85-friendly vehicles, the new fuel is helping residents get to their favorite Wisconsin drive-to destinations with more money in their pockets. E85 is often cheaper than traditional gasoline – and most drivers don’t see a noticeable difference in gas mileage. In addition, we’ll take a look at some General Motors E85/flex-fuel vehicles, and dispel some myths associated with the fuel. We’ll tour the Chevy plant in Janesville to learn about what makes their vehicles different from regular gasoline vehicles. Finally, we’ll unveil a very special way that we at Discover Wisconsin are committed to the use of E85 fuel.
