Riverstone Restaurant & Tavern - Eagle River, WI
Every month we highlight a restaurant in Wisconsin that has superior food, atmosphere and service, and today’s pick is one of my favorites in the entire Northwood’s. It’s called Riverstone and it’s located in the heart of Eagle River on Railroad Street. This is a restaurant that embraces the unusual. Riverstone has my favorite appetizer in Wisconsin and I do not say that lightly. It’s the Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Board, with 6 unique cheeses made in the Old World Tradition, in small batches. The cheeses start from the most mild – like feta, and work their way up to Stravecchio and Hook’s Blue Cheese out of Mineral Point. Other noteworthy appetizers include walleye cakes with cucumber wasabi and dill caper sauces and Hearth Bruschetta. Main dishes include prime rib, Mediterranean style lamb, baby back ribs, citrus glazed breast of duck and wild Alaskan King salmon. Desserts are a specialty, with their famous chocolate fountain, an old fashioned bread pudding, and an order-ahead dessert – the baked apple grand marnier with pastry cap and real whipped cream. Riverstone is located in a vintage building that features an 1880’s oak back bar, pressed tin ceiling, vintage tiled floors, stone fireplace, and a state-of-the-art exhibition kitchen. It has an award winning wine list, and a friendly staff. Congratulations to owners Ron and Cindy Meinholz and the entire Riverstone crew for creating one of the Northwood’s best restaurants!
