Rock County, WI
2009 DW Destination
Start in the northern part of Rock County, at Lake Koshkonong where boating and fishing opportunities abound and then travel south along the Rock River to discover other scenic areas, recreation and communities. The views from Magnolia Bluff Park are gorgeous. So are the homes in the Evansville Historic District. You can plan a trip around the Chili Cook Off in Edgerton and visit the museum in the old train depot that still plays host to the Santa train with its 1913 steam engine every December. History comes alive at the site of the Underground Railroad in Milton. Further south there’s a sight to see Tiffany. The Tiffany Bridge. Built in 1869, it’s the only hand built five arch stone railway bridge in the country. These highlights plus what you can see and do in Janesville and Beloit (see separate DW Destination listings) make Rock County a place you not only enter Wisconsin but a place you just might want to spend some time.
