Janesville is Wisconsin’s Park Place with more than 57 parks where you can play golf, have a picnic, hike and bike or lower your boat into the Rock River for a day of fishing. The Rotary Botanical Gardens in full bloom is a sight to behold. Visit Traxler Park where you can see the Rock Aqua Jays Ski Team. National championship performers display their water skiing talents twice a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Or watch acrobatics in the air by attending the annual Southern Wisconsin AirFest featuring precision flying by pilots in jets or the old fashion biplane of the barnstorming era. Speaking of history, Janesville’s historic sites demonstrate the pride the community has in its heritage. Take a walking tour of the city’s historic homes and see the variety of architecture and hear the stories about the people who settled in Janesville. Don’t pass up a trip to the Lincoln-Tallman House and Museum. Restored to its 1857 splendor, it’s the only existing house in Wisconsin that can claim Abraham Lincoln really did sleep here. Arts and culture also thrives in Janesville. The Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra performs several times a year. There’s dinner theater at The Armory and a variety of performances at the Janesville Performing Arts Center.
