Baraboo. WI
Choice Destination
Baraboo is most often known as “Circus City” – a nickname earned because the Ringling brothers called Baraboo home in the 1800’s. The name has stuck because the city plays host to the always-entertaining Circus World Museum. The Museum is always a great stop on your Baraboo visit, but it isn’t the only reason that you should put Baraboo on your destination list. This exciting city offers something for everyone to explore! Baraboo is nestled in the ancient, glacial carved bluffs and boasts the scenic wonder of Devil’s Lake State Park. It’s also home to the International Crane Foundation, where nature’s tallest flying birds are studied on their preservation grounds. While visiting Baraboo, you can hop aboard a steam train at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum for a picturesque tour through the area’s countryside. Or take another kind of trip as you float down the bumpy turns of the Baraboo River. Baraboo’s wide variety of gift shops, specialty stores and galleries make for a unique shopping experience in the historic Downtown district surrounding the county’s courthouse square. The Baraboo area offers visitors all of these attractions plus forums for activities like skiing, gambling, fishing, hiking and much more. So no matter what your age or interest, there’s something special for you in the Baraboo area!
