Besadny Fishery Facility and Salmon Runs

The C. D. "Buzz" Besadny Fish and Wildlife Area was established in 1957 to manage fish and wildlife resources associated with the Kewaunee River and surrounding landscape. The property is located in eastern Kewaunee County and contains one of the largest wetland complexes bordering Lake Michigan as well as one of the largest remaining blocks of forest in the county.

Historical Attractions

Originally settled by the Potowatami Indians in the early 1600s, Kewaunee was visited by numerous early explorers, including Nicolet, LaSalle, Hennepin and Marquette. With this proud maritime and ethnic heritage, Kewaunee offers interesting historical tidbits around every corner.

The Kewaunee Lighthouse

The Kewaunee Lighthouse is definitely a product of Wisconsin. Built during the early boon days of the shipping industry, its light has guided ships through the fog since 1891.
