This exhibit showcases beautiful Water Color pictures created by the late Jessie Harper. Ms. Harper was a third grade teacher at Washington Elementary School. When she passed away, her paintings were left to relatives, who are donating them for this exhibit. The exhibit is available for public viewing from April 1 through June 30. The exhibit will be available for viewing through October 31, 2012. Contact: 608-756-4509 This exhibit features quilts from the Rock County Historical Society's collection. Featured are appliquéd, pieced, embroidered and whole cloth quilts from the early 1800s to the 1950s. Included in the exhibit is a sampler quilt made by members of the Rock County Quilters Guild in honor of the Lincoln Tallman House’s 150 year anniversary. The history and pattern name of each quilt will be revealed during a "quilt turning" on scheduled days. Groups may arrange a private tour and turning. Quilt turnings are scheduled for Saturday, April 28 - 1:00 pm Monday, May 7 - 7:00 pm Sunday, May 13 (Mother's Day) - 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 23 - 5:30 pm

Walk along the garden pathways and view the leaves created by local artisans as you enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the Gardens. Now in its third year, this fundraising project encourages community participation at the Gardens, promotes local artists and raises funds for support and development of the Gardens. Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to artistically interpret a leaf design created from plywood by Rotary Botanical Gardens volunteers. There are 40 leaves in all, which will be displayed throughout the Gardens from Mother's Day through Labor Day. On September 9, 2012, the leaves will be auctioned off beginning at 1 pm in the Parker Education Center. More details regarding the auction will be provided at a later date. The 4th annual Girlfriends Great Eggscape. Escape for the whole weekend - to relax, relate and release! A getaway weekend with a trolley tour, workshops, exercise classes, pub crawl, shopping, and much, much more! The event fee is $69 - and includes welcome reception (hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting), DJ for dance, karaoke, exercise extravaganza, midnight snacks on Saturday, trolley shuttle, and Sunday brunch. A great weekend event! It's a re-enactment of numerous home front activities, rather than a battlefield show. The Civil war encampment at the park features infantry, artillery and cavalry demonstrations, and camp life demonstrations by officers and soldiers' wives. Friday evening, hear the whispers of Civil War talking ghosts at Maple Hill Cemetery. Saturday, watch the drills (careful, you might be a recruit!), listen to history lectures, and enjoy a parade and concert. A ticketed Ladies Tea is offered in the afternoon; in the evening is a ball with period costuming optional. If costuming interests you even more, Sunday includes a period style show featuring the sumptuous dresses of the day. Famous historical figures will be present, too. You might just meet President Lincoln! All but the ticketed events are free. Come and go as you please; it's a great occasion for all ages to enjoy!
