  • Fiddler Summit

Evansville High School Performing Arts Center 640 S. Fifth St. Evansville

    Saturday, February 25, 2012 - Saturday, February 25, 2012

Cozy up on a chilly February evening with foot-stompin' and heart-warming music. Ken Waldman is the well regarded Alaska Fiddling Poet and headliner for this event. He will be joined by the famed Cajun fiddler David Greely, founding fiddler of the Mamou Playboys of Louisiana. Also joining Waldman is the Madison duo, the Barley Brothers, which means fiddler Brian O'Donnell and multi-instrumentalist Colin Bazsali. Expect a most excellent string-band variety show, which will take you from Evansville to Anchorage and back, by way of Lafayette, Louisiana! It's a show not to miss. The Denver Post had this to say about Waldman: Ken Waldman proudly wears his statehood on his sleeve. He travels as Alaska's Fiddling Poet, combining two very different art forms into one highly regarded act. It's a bit of old-time music with a bit of timeless storytelling. The songs and stories are renegade Americana at its core, straightforward and unfancy, and they wallow in the kind of simple human truths, about life up north and beyond, that politicians only exploit. Want a sense of the real Alaska — with some Louisiana- inspired strings included? Take a listen to Waldman. Fee: goodwill donation
