Not only are these communities connected by the same highways but also by the 400 State Trail and the Baraboo River. This makes it a great destination for outdoor trail lovers. Whether you’re paddling, biking, hiking or snowmobiling you’ll find some great shops, down home cooking and hometown spirit in these communities. The scenic beauty of Hill Country is breathtaking. The events are unique such as the annual Trail and River Challenge. The area of Wisconsin that includes Sparta and Hill Country is a bike lovers paradise. In this episode we feature the towns of LaValle, Wonewoc, Union Center, Hillsboro and Elroy. While each community has its own unique identity, they are connected by the 400 State Trail. The old railroad tracks are gone, replaced by well maintained biking, hiking and snowmobile trails that will take you through a gorgeous part of our state. The 400 State Trail ends in Elroy but the Elroy-Sparta Trail picks up from there and takes you into Sparta. It’s one of the first Rails to Trails project in the country. When you arrive in Sparta you’ll understand why they call it the Bicycling Capital of America. But in this episode you’ll also discover that Sparta is home to fun, family activities and a Sparta family that’s synonymous with archery and guitars.
